About The Event

Upcycle what you have at home and make your own pad and/or pantyliner!

Fabric

Cottons are the best fabrics to use! Not only are they easy to sew, they are natural and breathable. This breathable property makes it comfortable.

Woven fabric e.g., bedsheets, clothes that are not stretchy. Tip: bedlinen sets often come with a bolster case that many people don’t use. If you have one, it would make great material as long as it’s cotton.

Jersey (T-shirt fabric) is more tricky to work with because it is actually a knit fabric. Many T-shirt fabric also contains a blend of synthetic divers such as elastase, nylon, polyester. Men’s T-shirts tend to contain less synthetic fibers than women’s but tend to have prints on them. If these prints are latex or polyvinyl based (I.e., you can feel a slightly rubbery raised texture, it’s probably not going to be as comfortable.)

Terry – most towels are cotton and older towels provide a decently good amount of absorbency. Terry is suitable as the core, the part inside the pad that absorbs.

Many modern fabrics are a blend, including bedlinen. If you’re in doubt, read the washing label and google translate non-English labelling to find out exactly what your fabric is!
